The resilience is amazing!

Perhaps I am easily pleased but driving through Karachi today, going about my normal business day, meeting up with friends and colleagues, seeing shops open, the daily-wage worker going about his business, heavy traffic on the street, people laughing, children playing on swings and slides, my city full of activity … gave me a sense of relief and calmed, to some extent, the tension and unease that had engulfed me during the past few days.

The people of Karachi, the people of this country have always been resilient and that came through clearly as I went through different parts of the city during the course of the day. I am proud of this country and its people. Whatever challenge or calamity comes our way, we try and rise above it, look beyond the bleakness of the moment and work towards the promise of tomorrow. I hope and pray that this is the beginning of a year of peace and progress for Pakistan and for us all.
