SI logoThe SI sessions initiated by P@SHA and Green&White in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore were all well-attended and the feedback was “Let’s not stop now … let’s have more… and more … and more!” Keep the momentum going – change the format a bit to make them a little more structured … yet keep the interactive parts alive.

The infamous Jawwad Farid has volunteered to host the next session in Karachi on February 8, 2008. Details as follows:alchemy logo

    Jehan Ara,

I never thought someday you will write a comment on my blog! (Nor did I think I’ll see iscrybe, netsol, or lmkr heads; thats also because of you and osama.) Thanks!

Second series so soon; thats fast but good. These events have started to shake things. We feel excitement and a sense of doing something. At the same time our hopes are high now.

I was thinking may be in the last hour of Startup Insiders session, you can provide an opportunity for new startups to showcase their work? Like giving 10 minutes to each startup to describe their work. By “new startups” I mean those who are planning to launch a startup and have their product ready and want to showcase it to other peers and industry leaders to get advise and comments (and also possible investment.)

I have seen such events happening in other countries like the infamous TechCrunch40 event:

The format is simple: Forty of the hottest new startups from around the world will announce and demo their products over a two day period at TechCrunch40. And they don’t pay a cent to do this. They will be selected to participate based on merit alone. (more)

wow, im missing all the fun back home. Hope this will be a regular activity next year too. im thinking of humbly launching a product of my own soon..

how about videoconferencing and inviting overseas Pakistanis and VCs???

🙂 Hey Sohail, whether it is me or the heads of LMKR, Netsol or iScrybe, we are all mere mortals and no better than anyone else. So it is equally important that they got to meet you too. SI created the opportunity and that is what is exciting all of us.

Yes we are guilty of hosting the second SI session too soon after the completion of the first cycle but a number of us are travelling as of next week and then the country goes into the elections, hence we thought there was no harm in holding it sooner. Am glad you agree.

Your idea is a good one and it is already being discussed at the SI organizational level. We want to fine-tune it a bit so that we are offering a quality program which ends up providing value to both startups and potential investors. Keep the ideas coming. Remember, although this has been initiated by P@SHA and Green&White, it is a community event so it is up to all of us to evolve it into something that will work for us all.

Yes Atif, you sure are missing out. Videoconferencing … hmmm … will add that to the Think Tank list. We are moving ahead faster than even we imagined. Thanks for the suggestion.
