oDesk rankings – Pakistan & Philippines offer most “value for money”

January 17, 2009 at 8:43 am 6 comments

Workteams and providers from the Philippines and Pakistan have topped the rankings on the oDesk Outsourcing list as offering value for money! These two countries were also the fastest growing countries on oDesk, by hours worked, from 2007-2008.

According to the oDesk site, this simple calculation was made by breaking the rates for software development and data entry since they vary quite a bit in both dollar amounts and proportions of work between countries.’

Nice. That is good to hear. How influential is oDesk?

I don’t know how influential they are but two of the most popular places to find remote contractors are Elance and oDesk. Between the two sites, there have been over $200 million in service transactions since 2005. They offer solid marketplaces that connect jobs with service providers so for a lot of freelancers throughout Pakistan, the fact that we are seen as delivering “value for money” is good news.

@Jehan: I knew about Elance, but did not know about oDesk. I even thought Elance was overtaken by the likes of Rent-a-coder, etc.

Surprising what you learn every day on the digital highway.

Rent a Coder has only small projects where as Elance contains bigger and better projects you can find projects worth 10000$-25000$ USD. ODesk on the other hand is better for hourly jobs coz they only guarantee payment for “per hour” jobs. Although they have lump sum amount projects but there overall focus and tools are for “per hour” jobs.

Odesk is far better then Elance. Many providers are usually writing about limitations of Elance. I am working with oDesk since last one year but never faced any problem.
