This was sent to me by a friend. I can’t credit the source since I don’t really know where he got it from. But I thought it was worth sharing. Do I need to tell you who this is? I don’t think so.

Fair and lovely should be banned. What a lame product. What is wrong with being ‘dark complexioned’ anyway, to create a product like this? I just wish that whoever came up with this bullshit product, had thought to him/herself “that being born with a dark complexion is not a matter of ugliness or low status.” Was that one of the reasons why this product came to existence in the first place? That’s what it seems like. Why would a company create a product (disgustingly a stinky “cream”) to get fairer? Fairer doesn’t mean more attractive you cunts – it just means paler like a dead body!! Why can’t people just live with the colour they’re born with and not try to change it – they should be proud with what god’s given them, and not want to look like their white-skinned “American friends”. And what really shits me is that a country like India, has to follow in the footsteps of America – there’s so much Americanism in Modern India it’s not funny – people’s attitude, way of thinking, consumerism, lifestyle. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bagging India – I love India and it’s people – it’s just this whole advertising/marketing/media bullshit that is fed to the public that upsets me. For once can’t they try and focus more on their own culture/people?

I don’t see a reason for someone to be ‘fair and lovely’ especially a person like Obama. I think this ad is so fuckin’ shit, that it makes me want to projectile vomit! It’s Indian advertising at its shittest – no concept, art direction or any consideration put into it. And how much money went into this can we know – all for the marketing of a fucked up, bullshit, lame, useless, disgusting, motherfuckin’ product.

Maybe the Indian advertising industry need to consider being a little more creative in coming up with better, more local culture-specific, ‘advertising ideas’ to market such wasteful and distasteful products to the nation.
