Payment Gateway on the way!

February 19, 2009 at 2:00 pm 18 comments

A little bird tells me that PTCL will be launching a Web Payment Gateway very, very, very soon, in partnership with Wateen. It could in fact be just a matter of days.

I also hear that the new Governor State Bank, Mr. Salim Raza, is demanding an explanation from his team – he wants to know why SBP has so far dragged its feet vis-a-vis the Electronic Commerce payment systems. Three cheers for the new Governor! I hope he  pushes this through. I know lots of companies, with innovative solutions, who will bless him if he is able to do this.

Keep your fingers crossed, crescented … or whatever!🙂

Great! I hope it takes off. If it does, the governor can go ahead and contest in the next elections and I’ll make sure he wins.😉

P.S. Is the “she” governor State Bank been replaced???

just like we have 40+ banks and 10+ gsm/wimax/cdma companies, this field will also see multiple silos (5+ in 2009) launch, gain market share, survive, and then in 2010 or 2011 some of them start combining, resulting in a 1link-MNet situation by 2012 or 2013.

Etisalat has a payment gateway service in UAE and it makes things very easy and compliments their e-government model along with tons of other facilities towards citizen which make life easy. Since PTCL is their baby now, I am hoping they will leverage on the existing experience and bring the facility into Pakistan.

    Its about time…………!

It will be a great news if PTCL will give some “PAYPAL” alternate which is most widely use and pakistani freelancers like me lose a lot of jobs because of PAYPAL account.

This Payment Gateway will work if it will as PAYPAL becasue in pakistan ppl use moneybookers, 2co, alertpay, plimus and all other major gateway …. so we need paypal alternate if PTCL can give.

I dont think it is possible in the near future… State Bank is after all is a Govt institution….. And we all know the pace with which things move in govt departments.

According to your posts the Raseen gateway was launching in the month of july.

It never happened. Till now there is no news that in near future it will be launched.

Posting news that never happen does not make sense at all.
