Raseen Payment Gateway launched

Remember the discussion we had regarding the fact that for e-commerce to flourish, it was essential that there should be a Payment gateway in Pakistan since PayPal doesn’t know we exist? It was a major part of the debate/discourse we had during the last Startup Insiders session that we had at LUMS in Lahore.
Well apparently it is here – Raseen Technologies has partnered with a leading Bank to launch the first 3D Secure compliant e-Commerce Payment Gateway in Pakistan to process online financial transactions, according to Nauman Ahmed Director Sales & Business Development of Raseen.
Raseen Payment Gateway (RPG), says Nauman, is a highly secure and scalable service that complies with international financial standards including Verified by Visa, MasterCard Secure Code, J-Secure and PCI standards minimizing the risk of fraud and merchant exposure.
It is a fully managed, feature rich payment engine that acts as a gateway between the merchant and the array of agents involved in online payment processing. RPG integrates with Merchant web-portals to provide seamless buying experience through valid credit/debit cards and also covers additional delivery channels.
The Raseen Payment Gateway enables Merchants to:
· Increase customer satisfaction in an increasingly competitive market through value differentiation
· Improve accounts receivables & lower cost of managing cash receivables
· Deliver personalised targeted marketing & overall customer experience
Key features of Raseen Payment Gateway (RPG) include Payment Channels, Online Authorization, Security, Report and Management and Multi-Currency Support.
Raseen Technologies is part of the Dhabi Group – the UAE group that has invested in Bank Alfalah, Warid Telecom, United Bank Limited, Taavun, and Wateen Telecom.

This is great news, but why not in PK, when we will become able to launch one in PK. when we will get permission and regulations for online payment solutions in Pakistan.

@Bilal this is for Pakistan. Raseen has offices in Karachi and Lahore I believe.
Questions are however being asked regarding information on how and where to register for an account. I hope Nauman or someone from Raseen will see this and enlighten us.

I just went through almost all the pages on Raseen site but cant find any specific info on how to register, integrate, or use the payment gateway.

Yeah nothing on there site. 😦 ….They might have shown interest to launch services but might not yet have actually started here in PK. Anyways, hopeful that it will benefit companies prepared to set-up an e-commerce industry.

Its a good news to have a payment gateway in Pakistan but it will be useless unless it finds some way to integrate with paypall! Yes! we need paypall, we can’t live without it. Most of the coys/ people have their accounts with paypall, so for a receipt or payment, we can’t force every intl client/vendor to make an account with Raseen first and then pay / recieve some bucks!!

PayPal has an amazing business model and success story that all of us can learn from. We have studied them extensively and also looked at what challenges they address to facilitate cross-border payments. There is already an alternative for Paypal for Pakistanis. It is called Moneybookers.com. Another one is Alertpay.com. I already used both and they are working. I prefer Moneybookers but the only bad thing is that it is not as famous as Paypal so US users feel uncomfortable in signing up with moneybookers.com and still prefer paypal so you may have a hard time selling to them via these services.
