A few of the Reboot winners

sharjeel receiving rebootI have couriered most of the copies of Reboot to the winners but since I was going to Lahore on Monday I decided it would be cool to present the author-signed copies to as many of the winners there as I could. And so I did – to Sharjeel Ahmed Qureshi, Yaser Awan and Kashif Nawaz.

Here is a photo of me presenting Reboot to Sharjeel (yes that is Zafar Khan, CEO of Sofizar in the background wearing his TicketNest.com t-shirt. He is conversing with Hasan Rizvi, CEO of Five Rivers Technologies). There were about 30 of us at the Iftari/Dinner hosted by Naseer Akhter of Infotech at the Royal Palm in Lahore. It was great to see everyone.

Yaser AwanAnd who’s this? This is another young winner – Yaser Awan. Look at that smile! He really was so happy to receive the copy of Reboot.

Both these gents are the young  people behind SeenReport – the citizen journalism site that has empowered many in this country to publish their photos and accounts of things they’ve seen. Some of the photos published on SeenReport have been picked up by international news media. It was a pleasure presenting Reboot to them.

I wonder why no-one took a picture of me presenting the book to Kashif Nawaz, CTO of Plabesk Solutions. Oh well, maybe he values his privacy.

Munir with RebootSo who’s this? This is Munir Usman, CEO of Pi Labs – a really bright individual who has worked on some really terrific local and international projects. Pi Labs is a small startup based in Karachi. Munir decided to drop in and collect his copy of Reboot from my office today so naturally I took a picture. 🙂

We will have a pizza party with the author for all the winners who are based in Karachi, right after Eid. Somehow we will also try and get him to Lahore. Keep tuned to this blog for further information. 😀

Just as I finished the post, Munir Usman (who is also an occasional blogger and a more regular mini-blogger) put up this picture of his reading list on Twitter. Hey Jawwad, Reboot shares the bookshelf with the likes of “A Case of Exploding Mangoes” and “The God Delusion”. Wow!

Reading listBTW Reboot is now also available on Amazon.com. Yippee.

It was nice meeting you all people at the Royal Palm and thanks to Naseer Akhter who hosted Iftar/Dinner and created an opportunity for us to share ideas and experiences there.

And Jehan, actually no one noticed when you presented me the book as every one was so busy in dinner and those who had done that, were busy in their chats, So it doesn’t matter if I don’t have my photo over here, what does matter is that, I have REBOOT with me and going through it, and I had chance to meet wonderful people there.

Again, thanks to all of you.

I am so in for writing a small commentry on Reboot but the sad fact is , i am a very slow reader. so by the time i’ll have anything to write there will be so many reviews out there :/

Btw Thanks to the host for such a nice party and to everyone who showed up. Thanks to Jawad for the signed copy and thanks to you for having this competition and personally delivering the books

@Munir you’re welcome. And I am impressed with your reading list. Will you really need an ‘education’ after you have finished all these books?

@Muneeb don’t wait for another competition. Go and buy one now.

@Kashif you are right. The photo does not matter. It is the book that does. Enjoy it and learn from it. Good meeting you too.

@Yaser we will wait for your review no matter how long it takes :).

@Owaeis Be thankful to GOD, Imagine if you had to travel to Karachi for such events 😉
So get benefited by something happening useful in your neighbourhood, and soon it will be at your hometown as well as Jehan said.

Any way, congrats on getting REBOOT, I read a few pages from there and feel like my Eid holidays will end up reading only this book. Yes, I am very slow in reading 😦
