Five Pakistanis on WEF Young Global Leaders 2010 list

Amir Jahangir – Chief Executive Officer – JAAG Broadcasting (Pvt.) Limited

Hamid Yar Hiraj – Minister of State for Commerce of Pakistan

Muhammad Tabba – Chief Executive Officer – Lucky Cement

Syed Mustafa Kamal – Mayor of Karachi

Umar Saif – Founder – Saif Center for Innovation (SCI)

Let us celebrate all these winners. They have done us all proud. Well done gentlemen. Next time, however, I personally would also like to see some women recognized. I can think of several young women in Pakistan who have shown leadership and inspired many around them.

Actually Munizeh Jahangir, a journalist, was selected in 2008 so a YGL. We just have to ensure that more women and men from Pakistan are recognized.

@Nighat i am too old to fit into the Young Global Leaders category🙂

Exactly. what is the criteria? Except Dr. Saif, rest of selections seems quite dodgy to me. And, how “young” is a Young Global Leader?

Several people have wondered about the criteria. Please check it out at:

I personally know 3 out of the 5 winners and I totally support their selection as Young Global Leaders. I believe this is a selection that goes through a lot of scrutiny. Those I don’t know I would not like to judge. Can we just celebrate the fact that recognition is coming our way. I hope many more are selected in years to come.

@Amir you certainly deserve it. As a serial entrepreneur and for the kind of work and initiatives you have undertaken. We should thank all of you for projecting a good image of Pakistan through the work you do. Yes let us meet up next week.
